Madge is my own design but was adapted from a pattern Dance Like No One is Watching! by Sharon Mitchell. At least her legs and arms were. I straightened them to produce Madge’s arms and legs as I liked the proportions used by Sharon.
The baby is from the ‘Woolen Baby Doll’ pattern in the book The Complete Photo Guide to Doll Making by Nancy Hoerner, Barbara Matthiessen and Rick Petersen. I photo-reduced the pattern and adapted it slightly to make the baby.
Madge is a rather glamorous Mum wearing suede jeans, figure-hugging top and high heels.
Madge has been needle-sculptured to create a smiling face. I have used pastels to shade the face and watercolour pencils to create her features. I have also used acrylic paint for the whites of her eyes and for her shoes. Her shoes are finished with Mod Podge to give them that patent leather look.
